I recently stopped by the the L.A. Dance Academy for a little tête-a-tête with the Woz himself. Now mainstream folks have recently been introduced to my favorite geek on Dancing with the Stars, but he’s been a hero of mine forever as the co-founder of Apple. I must say, he is the most down to earth and cool guy ever. He radiates positive energy and is just friendly with everyone. Lastly, he takes pride (and I would too if I founded Apple) in being a geek. Before the interview he told me how dedicates every March to touring high schools around the country to speak to students and judge their robotic competitions. That rocks!
FYI- This was the first time I used this HD flipcam for an interview. I typically use my Nokia N95, which I’ve become an expert at framing myself on and I’ve noticed isn’t as easy with the flipcam.
This is the raw cut- almost 15 minutes long. I know that length is practically illegal in the online video world, but what the hey! He dished about everything from Dancing with the Stars, being the ultimate geek, what’s next on the web and finally gave me a little parting gift. If you’re a fan and supporter of Wozniak, you’ll definitely enjoy!

I was back on the travel beat at SXSW writing for Condenet’s pop culture travel guide, Jaunted.com
Here’s my SXSW travel guide including my own personal tips- and of course those from my twitter community! READ IT HERE! (and don’t forget to retweet the link yourself

Thanks to the amazing Alexia Tsotsis for the mention in her LA Weekly SXSW roundup, which also looks at the burgeoning LA tech community and its bombtastic (a word I just made up!) presence at this year’s fest. First time I’ve been called a “community evangelist”- sounds fancy!
I just got back from an incredible trip to Austin for SXSW Interactive. It’s the section of the conference focusing on the web and new media space, which has grown exponentially since it began years ago. Despite this horrible economy, attendance was up 20% from last year, while music is down. THAT SAYS SOMETHING PEOPLE! What’s so great about the conference is that it’s the one time that the online community from every city comes together to share what’s next, meet new people, meet face to face with virtual friends, exchange ideas to inspire and advance the conversation. I wanted to share some individuals and panels that truly stood out for me:
Gary Vaynerchuk, Tony Hsieh-CEO of Zappos.com, Social Media for Social Good, Randi Zuckerberg and Facebook, Brian Cooper- CEO of A Glimmer of Hope Foundation
