It’s been a month or so since I launched my blog, On The Scene, on CBSNEWS.COM. It’s been such a fun and fulfilling experience. I’m having a blast handpicking and telling stories that are newsworthy, inspiring or simply awesome. I hope people can read the blog and be entertained, have a laugh, learn something new and/or get motivated to do equally awesome things.

So keeping everyone in the loop with my online adventures, as I like to do, here are links to some of my recent stories. Enjoy and add the blog to your rss feed or else! :)

I am so honored to be a contributor to Huffington Post’s new Impact section in partnership with Causecast. The new section will be your source for news about public service, volunteerism, as well as information on the major issues affecting Americans today.

My first post went up yesterday. I wrote about the Drew Carey aftermath and my thoughts on celebs using social media for social good.

Got to mention that in my new year’s resolutions I actually wrote that I wanted to contribute to the site. I not only respect and am inspired by how HuffPo has revolutionized online news, but by the voice behind it- Arianna Huffington.

I had the opportunity to meet and interview her at the Webby Awards in August- she’s not only brilliant, but super sweet!

Rock on!

This week was exciting to say the least. On Tuesday, I interviewed Drew Carey about his 100,000 dollar twitter bid he made over the weekend for Lance Armstrong’s Live Strong Foundation.

His twitter update made headlines but all people were doing was quoting his tweet. I wanted to get the scoop from horses mouth, so I set up a video interview with him. That was going to be my mini-exclusive, but it ended up becoming much more when Carey suddenly decided to up his donation to 1 million dollars if he got a million Twitter followers by December 31 at 12 AM PT.

We released the story on my CBS News blog, On The Scene, on Wednesday and the news spread quickly. Even Perez Hilton picked up the story!

In the end, it was so awesome to break a story that’s positive and ultimately for a great cause.

This week was really exciting for me, because I launched my new blog on CBSNEWS.COM. It’s called “On The Scene”, where I track the best in social trends and pop culture (which encapsulates pretty much everything that is awesome). I see this as an amazing opportunity to bring inspiring and relevant stories to an iconic and trusted brand like CBS News. It’s something that I’ve actually been working towards for a while. I’ve always worked for so many different outlets doing separate things for each one- travel, entertainment news, technology, innovation and social good. I’ve wanted to have one place for all these passions and stories. I also wanted to be the voice for this community and generation on a Network. Bridging the gap between traditional and non-traditional media is my passion and is something I will continue to do, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I’ll also be an LA correspondent for The Tomorrow Show w/ Mo Rocca where we look at the future of well… everything!

Tubefilter.tv also did a great little piece on the launch. READ IT HERE!

Thanks so much to everyone for their support. It’s really important for me to make this into a dialogue, so tweet me or send me emails with your thoughts and any story ideas!:)

P.S. As you can see I love and use way too many exclamations!!!

It’s hard not to notice Shira Lazar these days on the internet.
