Kind of a little outdated considering this all did happen earlier this month, but I still wanted to include this on my site for all those that didn’t catch it.

This is the 2nd year I was involved with Internet Week NY, which brings together the industry and the growing tech scene in NY for a week of over 150 events around the city. I hosted the Mashable Media Summit and daily video updates which you can watch HERE. The week culminated with the 14th Annual Webby Awards honoring the best of the web. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from the night:

So while working on updating my site, I didn’t post any updates about some fun stuff I have recently been up to. I’ve been doing a ton of live streams lately- from backstage of shows to premieres and events. I honestly LOVE these, because I’ve always enjoyed doing any of my work live, but it also allows for complete interactivity and engagement with viewers. It’s all in the moment and no turning back- but that’s what makes it completely exhilarating and exciting to do.

Firstly, I got to do the first ever backstage live-stream from the 64th Annual Tony Awards. It a long 4-hour live event, but one of the highlights was definitely interviewing Denzel Washington and Viola Davis who both won Tony’s for the Broadway and Pulitzer Prize winning play, Fences:

This past month, I’ve also been in NYC a ton hosting on CBS’ Backstage Live! – the live stream during The Early Show on Saturday. Basically, all the guests come on to do longer, interactive chats with me and the viewers after their appearance on the show. Here’s one we did with Clay Aiken and my friend/mentor/internet magnate Gary Vaynerchuk:

Finally, I also co-hosted the live stream for the official Twilight premiere, which happened to be one of the biggest film and pop culture happenings of the summer. You can watch a recap of the livestream HERE and below is a segment I did before the premiere of all the fans camped out at Nokia Live in Downtown LA for days leading up to the event. It was crazy!

Besides my blog on CBS News that I update consistently throughout the week, I’m going to try to keep this as updated as possible with all my recent work and other things I hope can also inform, entertain, educate and inspire all of you.

I’m still vlogging on the go too- My videos that used to be on my kyte channel (kyte.tv/shiralazar) will now be on my YouTube (youtube.com/user/shiralazar), and updated automatically on this site as well.

I guess that’s it for now- enjoy and I look forward to seeing you back on the interwebs soon!

Last weekend, I visited the MoMA in New York to see Marina Abramovíc’s show and retrospective, The Artist Is Present, which also ended last week. Since March, the interactive exhibit had Marina sitting during business hours (700 hours over the three months) at a table staring at visitors who would sit and stare back at her. She says she saw over 1500 eyes. Some people sat for as little as 2 minutes and as long as 20 minutes, and others were moved to tears from staring at her in silence. Those flickr photos can be seen HERE.

One of her pieces, which was of an actual beat up van had this written on the window. It really resonated, so I thought I would post it here:

No fixed living-place
Permanent movement
Direct contact
Local relations
Self-selection
Passing limitations
Taking risks
Mobile energy
No rehearsals
No predicted end
No repetition
Extended vulnerability
Exposure to chance

With Ashton Kutcher and my lovely co-host Jason Pollock on the red carpet

With Ashton Kutcher and my lovely co-host Jason Pollock on the red carpet

I hosted the red carpet premiere of Killers the other night, which will be in theaters tomorrow, June 4th. I always have such a great time doing these shoots, not only because we have the best access to all the actors of the film, but because it’s live and interactive!!

This premiere was also a first in movie history- Ashton Kutcher who not only starred but produced the film decided that he would stream the first 13 minutes of it online for fans from the premiere. That’s something that has never been done before. Throughout the film’s shooting Ashton would also upload pictures from the set, something that would traditionally have to be cleared by the studio and many other people beforehand. Yes, times are a changing. Don’t get me wrong, there’s something awesome about the fictional and illusionary magic of movies. But lets be real here. In this age of constant connectivity, audiences appreciate being part of the process. This might sound esoteric, but a simple tweet or post from the set about how a film is going can even educate and inspire people about filmmaking itself. Director Robert Luketic even spoke about this during his interview. It brings value and a connection to the process and the ultimate product.

Anyway, if you missed the livestream here it is for your viewing pleasure:
