It was awesome being part of the first Playlist Live on the East Coast. I emceed opening night at the Best Buy Theater with some fun YouTube personalities and performers SDK, Jenna Marbles, Ricky Dillon, Trevor Moran, Andrea Russett and more!
Billboard picked up the story, with an interesting take on the community and space overall. There has always been criticism from digital stars of how traditional media often times cover this world - either focusing on the money making opportunities and/or having a lack of understanding around the fandom and popularity of these stars. At least the post does end on a high note, highlighting the empowerment of this new landscape to build special communities and a next generation of talent.
What's Trending also shot some content backstage with some of stars making waves with new albums and even a feature film.
Closing night of the entire Playlist Live Tri-State, we also hosted an American Music Awards viewing party with Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter complete with Justin Bieber and Beyonce life size cutouts. This day in age, there's always a way to be part of the party even when you're on the other side of the country!
It was so exciting to be on a recent episode of Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories on Adult Swim. The episode, "The Endorsement" starring Jason Schwartzman was a comedic, dark and twisted look at the world of celebrity and entertainment news coverage with yours truly playing the host they put in a cage. You'll understand more once you see the episode LOL!
We also got the Gawker seal of approval (whatever that means) who complimented how Tim and Eric "zeroed in on how we give celebrities a lot of shit for things they have very little control over and also provided the most perfect indictment of gossip journalism I've ever seen".
Thanks again for including me guys- hope to be in more awesome, brilliant and wacky content you do in the future.
I had the opportunity to interview the iconic Joan Rivers on stage at Internet Week NY. Our 1-hour conversation covered some pretty interesting topics you don't see her talking about often- social media and the impact on comedy, her own web series "In Bed With Joan", and how at practically 80-years old she stays inspired and keeps hustling. She might get slammed a lot by the media and critics for being the brash personality that she is, but I must say, she is one of the most impressive women I've met. She's been through so many ups and downs, yet continues pushing through and doing what she loves and was born to do. This interview definitely goes on my list as one my favorites and most memorable.
Was excited to participate in YouTube's themed #ComedyWeek produced by JASH (EP's of Jimmy Kimmel Live and in partnership with Michael Cera, Sarah SIlverman, Tim and Eric and Reggie Watts). Along with What's Trending I collaborated with Rhett and Link for the YouTube #ChallengeChallenge with a group of awesome Youtubers- We performed 11 challenges in 4 minutes. Some were gag worthy- enjoy!
What's Trending also teamed up with #ComedyWeek to bring you the Top Talk Show Moments with commentary from the likes of Grace Helbig, Kassem G, Shay Carl, Sourcefed, Husky Starcraft and more:
